Since operating as a Trading Fund Department in 1995, Hongkong Post has become a market-oriented service organization and grown beyond the traditional postal services to providing a diversified range of services in the logistics supply chain in addition to developing new markets. The following non-civil service contract managerial post in Hongkong Post is advertised:

Senior Manager (Local Mail)

(Around $590,000 per annum + gratuity)

Major responsibilities:

  • Lead, develop and manage a team of marketing professionals; undertake responsibilities on profit and loss for the Local Mail service; and ensure ongoing business growth of the service through enhancement of existing products and development of technology;
  • Develop and implement effective marketing and product development plan, strategies, budget and forecast to meet an exceed financial and service targets;
  • Initiate quality/process improvements for enhancement of service quality, keep abreast of the development of technology that will pose threat to the long-term growth of the Local Mail services, with a view to ensuring its reliability and business performance on a continuous basis;
  • Develop and implement new and competitive product items, including Direct Mail, ePost and local logistics/consignment service, through close coordination internally and externally;
  • Conduct market studies and analyses on the changing dynamics, including market trends, market competitions and customer needs;
  • Conduct price reviews and build cost models for key products.

Requirements:

  • A Hong Kong bachelor degree, or equivalent;
  • Minimum 10 years of post-qualification experience in marketing and product development. Relevant experience in direct mail marketing, hybrid mail and mail/logistics/local courier business is preferable;
  • A “Level 3” (Grade “C” before 2007) or above in both Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B before 2007) in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination, or equivalent;
  • Strong leadership ability and interpersonal skills;
  • Self-motivated, outgoing and able to work independently with passion for excellence and quality;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Chinese/Cantonese. Good proficiency in Putonghua;
  • Commercial mindset with foresight, innovative thinking and initiative.

Terms of appointment:

  • 2 years’ contract;
  • Monthly salary of $42,795. Additional pay may be offered for relevant experience;
  • Discretionary performance pay up to about 1 month’s salary in every six months;
  • 14 days of annual leave; and
  • Gratuity payable plus Hongkong Post’s MPF contributions equivalent to 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period.
