"One Person, One Letter" Free Post Day

The "One Person, One Letter" Free Post Day will be held for the seventh consecutive year on 9 October 2010, aiming to encourage people to send letters to their loved ones. The details are as follows:-

"One Person, One Letter" Free Post Day

Definition of Personal Local Letter

  • Sent by an individual and bearing the name and local address of both the sender and recipient

Quantity Restriction

  • Each person is allowed to post one personal local letter for free

Packing, Size and Weight Limits

  • Sent in an envelope or in the form of a postcard
  • Envelope must be properly sealed, item in unsealed envelope is not acceptable
  • Maximum size is 167mm x 260 mm and minimum size is 90mm x 140mm
  • Maximum thickness is 7 mm and minimum thickness is 0.25mm
  • Weight limit is 50g

Address Format

  • "Personal Letter" together with recipient's name and address must be marked on the envelope
  • Sender's name and address must be marked on the back of the envelope

Acceptance Post Offices and Hours of Acceptance

  • At specially designed posting boxes during counter business hours of all post offices except the two mobile post offices

Delivery Standard

  • Delivery by the following working day

Note:

  • Letters posted at the special posting boxes will be date-stamped with "Postage Paid"
  • Letters not meeting the stipulated conditions may be refused or subject to surcharge
  • Registered, recorded delivery and Local CourierPost mail items will not be accepted
  • Promotional materials such as direct mail catalogues or commercial advertising materials will not be accepted
