"One Person, One Letter" Free Post Day

The "One Person, One Letter" Free Post Day will be held for the sixth consecutive year on 9 October 2009, aiming to encourage people to send letters to their loved ones. The details are as follows:-

Posting Arrangements and Conditions

Definition of Personal Local Letter

  • Sending by an individual and bearing the name and local personal address of both the sender and addressee

Quantity Restriction

  • Each person is allowed to post only one personal local letter for free

Size and Weight Limits

  • Sending in an envelope or in the form of a postcard
  • Maximum size is 167mm x 260 mm and minimum size is 90mm x 140mm
  • Thickness must not be less than 0.25mm
  • Weight limit is 50g
Address Format
  • "Personal Letter" together with addressee's name and address must be marked on the envelope
  • Sender's name and address must be marked on the back of the envelope

How to write correct address?

Acceptance Post Offices and Hours of Acceptance

  • At specially designed posting boxes during counter business hours of all post offices except the two mobile post offices

Delivery Standard

  • Following the pledge set for locally posted letter, delivery by the following working day

Note

  • The personal local letters posted at the special posting boxes mentioned above will be datestamped with “Postage Paid”
  • The personal local letters not meeting any of the posting condition(s) above may be refused or subject to surcharge
  • Registered, recorded delivery and Local CourierPost mail items will not be accepted
  • Promotional materials such as direct mail catalogues or commercial advertising materials will not be accepted
