Criteria for Standard Items

Standard items should be amenable to processing by the Merchanised Letter Sorting System of the Hongkong Post and therefore meet the following conditions which are indicative and not meant to be exhaustive :

Weight :	50g or below
Size :	Minimum : 90mm x 140mm Maximum : 167mm x 260mm
Thickness :	Minimum : 0.25mm Maximum : 7.00mm
Envelope :	Non-glossy paper of a light colour (Wrappers with open ends are not admissible)
Clearance zone :	The bottom 15mm zone of the envelope must be left blank for printing bar codes

GENERAL CONDITIONS

Minimum quantity of 2,000 items per postingsent by the same sender. (Items under different payment methods cannot be aggregated for the purpose of meeting minimum quantity.)
Items need to be identical in shape, size and weight.
Items need to be properly faced and either boxed or bundled in 100's or multiples of 100.
Items of different categories need to be clearly segregated at the time of posting.
Pre-sorted items must be presented at General Post Office or International Mail Centre Post Office for posting.
Under Pre-sort Di scount Scheme, no discount will be offered if the missort rate exceeds:
1. 0.1% for presorted delivery districts, or
2. 0.5% for presorted delivery beats
The word "Economy" should be marked on the address side at the top left-hand corner of the envelope for identification.

Application to use franked and/or permit mail service should be made beforehand to the Postmaster General,Hongkong Post Headquarters,2 Connaught Place, Hong Kong. For further information, please ring the Hongkong Post Telephone Enquiry Bureau on 2921 2222.

For accumulated postings with quantities of 200,000 items or above in a calendar month (irrespective of the number of calendar days in that particular month), you can enjoy special volume discounts – 5% discount for 200,000 up to 500,000 and 10% discount for more than 500,000. To enjoy the discounts for accumulated postings in a calendar month, please send the completed application form with the original copies of the posting receipts to our Financial Services Division within 15 calendar days following end of the calendar month.
