Hongkong Post issued today (25 June 2001) the "Hong Kong, China - Australia Joint Issue on Dragon Boat Race" special stamps. At a ceremony held this morning at the Shatin Dragon Boat Race site near Yuen Wo Road Indoor Games Hall, Mr. Allan CHIANG, J.P., Acting Postmaster General, Mr. David MAIDEN, Group Manager, Philatelic, Australia Post, Mr. Bill TWEDDELL, Consul General, Australia Consulate General and Mr. Mason HUNG, Acting General Manager - Research and Development, Hong Kong Tourism Board, officiated the Ceremony. Mr. CHIANG also presented to the guests and Mr. KAN Tai-keung, designer of these special stamps, and Mr. CHAN Kau-on, illustrator of these special stamps, framed stamps and first day covers as a memento of the occasion.
As this is a joint stamp issue with Australia Post, an issuing ceremony officiated by both Mr. Graeme JOHN, Managing Director of Australia Post and Mr. P.C. LUK, Postmaster General of Hongkong Post was also held today in Sydney, Australia to celebrate the Event.
