Issue of Definitive Stamp Sheetlet (No. 5) to Commemorate Hongkong Post's Participation in the Japan World Stamp Exhibition 2001"
The Postmaster General, Mr. P. C. LUK, announced today (30 July 2001) that a definitive stamp sheetlet (No. 5) will be issued on 1 August 2001 to commemorate Hongkong Post's participation in the Japan World Stamp Exhibition 2001 (PHILANIPPON'01), which will be held at the Tokyo International Exhibition Centre from 1 to 7 August 2001. PHILANIPPON'01 is a General World Stamp Exhibition at was officially granted patronage of the Federation Internationale de Philatelie (FIP).he stamp sheetlet depicts the prestige Japanese carp (Koi).
The stamp sheetlet is designed by Mr. Bon KWAN and printed in photogravure by Joh. Enschede Security Printers, the Netherlands. This stamp sheetlet incorporates a $10 definitive stamp nd will be sold at $10. A presentation pack containing a stamp sheetlet will also be available for sale at $18 each at all post offices on 1 August 2001.
As from 11 July 2001, the stamp sheetlet and presentation pack will be displayed for advance information of the public at the General Post Office, Tsim Sha Tsui Post Office , Tsuen Wan Post Office and Sha Tin Central Post Office. Official souvenir cover at $1 each will be put on sale at all post offices on the same day. Advance orders for servicing self-provided souvenir covers will be accepted at all post offices from 11 July to 18 July 2001.
Serviced souvenir cover at $13.50 each affixed with a stamp sheetlet and cancelled with special postmark will be available at the 38 philatelic offices on 1 August 2001.
A restriction of twenty stamp sheetlets, five serviced souvenir covers and five presentation packs per customer queuing will be imposed on the first day of issue on 1 August 2001 and on subsequent days until stock lasts.
Hand back service will be provided at all post offices on 1 August 2001 to official and privately-made covers bearing an indication of the event and a local address. A special postmark and cachet will also be introduced. Application of the cachet will be available at all post offices during the exhibition period from 1 - 7 August 2001 (excluding Sunday). The GPO-1 datestamp and "Hongkong Post Stamps" pictorial postmark will also be available for hand-back service at all philatelic offices on that day. The public hall of the Hongkong Post Stamps Philatelic Bureau ill open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on 1 August 2001 for datestamping covers with the "Hongkong Post Stamps" pictorial postmark, the GPO-1 postmark as well as the special postmark.
