"Issue of 160th Anniversary of Hongkong Post Prestige Stamp Booklet"

The Postmaster General, Mr. P.C. LUK, announced today (3 August 2001) that a Prestige Stamp Booklet and a souvenir cover will be issued on Saturday, 25 August 2001 to commemorate the 160th Anniversary of Hongkong Post this year.
This Prestige Stamp Booklet outlines the past developments of our postal services, with special emphasis on the achievements of the last decade. This booklet contains three specially designed stamp sheetlets incorporating the stamps of "Stamp Collecting", "1997 and 1999 Hong Kong Definitive Stamps " and "Hong Kong Airport " respectively. The stamp sheetlets are designed by Mr. Colin TILLYER and printed in photogravure by The House of Questa Ltd, United Kingdom. The selling price of the Prestige Stamp Booklet is $65 each.

As from 4 August 2001, the Prestige Stamp Booklet will be displayed for advance information of the public at the General Post Office , Tsim Sha Tsui Post Office , Tsuen Wan Post Office and Sha Tin Central Post Office . Official souvenir covers at $1 each will be put on sale at all post offices on the same day. Advance orders for servicing self-provided souvenir covers will be accepted at all post offices from 4 August to 13 August 2001.

A set of three serviced souvenir covers affixed with the stamp sheetlets contained in the Booklet priced at $40.5 each will also be available for sale at all post offices on 25 August 2001. Each cover will be affixed with a stamp sheetlet and cancelled with a special postmark . No loose stamp sheetlet will be available for sale.

A restriction of five stamp booklets and five sets of serviced souvenir covers per customer queuing will be imposed on the first day of issue on 25 August 2001 and on subsequent days until stock lasts.

Hand-back service will be provided at all post offices on 25 August 2001 to official and privately-made souvenir covers bearing an indication of the event and a local address. A special postmark will also be introduced. The GPO-1 datestamp and the pictorial postmark of individual philatelic office will also be available for hand-back service at these offices on that day.

All counter offices will open as per normal Saturday hours on 25 August 2001 to provide a full range of counter services. At the same time, the public hall of the Hongkong Post Stamps Philatelic Bureau will also open from 9:00a.m. to 1:00p.m. for datestamping covers with the "Hongkong Post Stamps" pictorial postmark , the GPO-1 postmark as well as the special postmark.
