160th Anniversary of Hongkong Post Prestige Stamp Booklet Issuing Ceremony and Opening of the Philatelic Exhibition

Hongkong Post issued today (August 25) the "160th Anniversary of Hongkong Post Prestige Stamp Booklet". At a ceremony held in the morning at the General Post Office, the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Donald TSANG Yam-kuen, was invited to join Postmaster General, Mr LUK Ping-chuen, to officiate at the issuing ceremony of the Prestige Stamp Booklet and the opening of the historical exhibit displays on postal service between 1841 and 2001 at the Postal Gallery. As a memento of the occasion, Mr LUK also presented to Mr TSANG, Chief Curator of Hong Kong Museum of History, Mr J S P TING, and designer of the booklet, Mr Colin TILLYER, framed souvenir sheet covers.
Mr LUK, also announced today (August 25) that Hongkong Post has achieved an excellent service performance in 2000/2001, not merely fulfilling most of its pledges but even exceeding some targets set for the year.

"We are proud of our service performance that has kept improving over the years. It is very encouraging to note that more and more of our customers are satisfied or very satisfied with our services. According to the annual public perception survey conducted in March 2001 by an independent consultant, our customers are increasingly satisfied with Hongkong Post's services. There were 97% of customers in the Business, General Public and 98% in the Philately groups who were "satisfied" or "very satisfied" with Hongkong Post's services. Among the Philately customers - the percentage of "very satisfied" customers has increased from 51% to 59%. We have been rated second in the best service organisation ranking for two years in a row," said Mr LUK.

"We will not be complacent with what we have achieved. Instead, we will continue to enhance our services and to strive for higher levels of customer satisfaction. To meet the changing needs of our customers, we shall continue to launch a "100 Projects for Better Services" every year. Some highlights in the projects for 2001/2002 include extending the PayThruPost service to accept Treasury bill payment, upgrading of counter service through displaying peak and non-peak hours at post offices; setting up "Post-It-Yourself" stations in more post offices; accepting postage prepayment items at General Post Office and Tsim Sha Tsui Post Office on Sundays; accepting Speedpost and Local CourierPost at Mobile post offices. Besides, we are going to introduce reciprocal gift courier service with China Post, set up a website to serve as a direct mail information centre for customers and design a Postcode System for Hong Kong," Mr LUK added.

To learn more about the service performance and initiatives of Hongkong Post, members of the public may refer to the "Hongkong Post Performance Pledges 2001" booklet or visit the website at http://www.hongkongpost.com. The booklet, which may be obtained at any post office, also contains information on Hongkong Posts' 100 Projects for Better Services 2001.
