China 2001 National Philatelic Exhibition - Nanjing
The Postmaster General, Mr. P.C. LUK, announced today (31 August 2001) that to promote Hong Kong Special Administrative Region stamps to the Mainland philatelists, Hongkong Post will participate in the "China 2001 National Philatelic Exhibition - Nanjing" organized by the All China National Philatelic Federation and the Jiangsu Post Bureau . The exhibition will be held at Nanjing International Exhibition Centre from 21.9.2001 to 25.9.2001.
A souvenir cover will be issued to commemorate Hongkong Post's participation in the exhibition. It depicts Bauhinia Blakeana , the city flower of Hong Kong, and Yuhuashi (Rain Flower Pebbles), the famous collection stone of Nanjing. The cover is priced at $2 each. It will be available at 38 philatelic offices from 7.9.2001 to 25.9.2001 and the exhibition venue in Nanjing from 21.9.2001 to 25.9.2001.
A special postmark and a cachet will be introduced to commemorate the event. Hand-back service to official and privately-made covers bearing an indication of the event and a local address will be provided at 38 philatelic offices and the exhibition venue on the opening day of the exhibition, that is 21.9.2001. The special postmark for the event, the GPO-1 datestamp and pictorial postmark will also be available for hand-back service at all Philatelic Offices on that day. Application of the cachet will be available at the exhibition venue and General Post Office , Tsim Sha Tsui Post Office and Airport Post Office throughout the exhibition period mentioned above. The cachet will also be available at all philatelic offices during the same period but excluding 23.9.2001 (Sunday).
The public hall of the Hongkong Post Stamps Philatelic Bureau will open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on 21.9.2001 for datestamping covers with the "hilatelic Bureau" pictorial postmark , the GPO-1 postmark as well as the special postmark and cachet.
The specimen impression of the cachet to commemorate Hongkong Post's participation in the "China 2001 National Philatelic Exhibition - Nanjing" which will be introduced on 21 September 2001.
