HAFNIA01 World Philatelic Exhibition

The Acting Postmaster General, Mr. Allan CHIANG, announced today (21 September 2001) that to promote Hong Kong Special Administrative Region stamps to overseas philatelists, Hongkong Post will participate in the "HAFNIA 01 World Philatelic Exhibition" which will be held at the Bella Centre in Denmark from 16.10.2001 to 21.10.2001.

A souvenir cover will be issued to commemorate Hongkong Post's participation in the exhibition. It depicts the Tsing Ma Bridge in Hong Kong, an infrastructure that Hong Kong takes pride in, and Copenhagen's most famous symbol, the "Little Mermaid" statue . The cover will be available for sale at $2 each at the 38 local philatelic offices from 29.9.2001 to 21.10.2001 and the exhibition venue in Denmark from 16.10.2001 to 21.10.2001.

A special postmarkand a cachet will be introduced to commemorate the event. Hand-back service to official and privately-made covers bearing and indication of the event and a local address will be provided at Hong Kong's 38 philatelic offices and the exhibition venue on the opening day of the exhibition, that is 16.10.2001. The GPO-1 hand stamp and pictorial postmarks will also be available for hand-back service at these philatelic offices on that day. Application of the cachet will be available at the exhibition venue, General Post Office , Tsim Sha Tsui Post Office and Airport Post Office throughout the exhibition period fron 16.10.2001 to 20.10.2001.

The public hall of Hongkong Post Stamps Philatelic Bureau will open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on 16.10.2001 for datestamping covers with the "Philatelic Bureau" pictorial postmark , the GPO-1 postmark as well as the special postmark and cachet.
