Launch of four colour cachet at Postal Gallery and Issue of Postal Gallery Postcard

The Acting Postmaster General, Mr. Allan CHIANG announced today that a specially designed cachet will be introduced for stamping postal and philatelic items at the Postal Gallery on the ground floor of General Post Office . The cachet is expected to arouse youngsters' and philatelists' interest in collecting stamps and postmark impressions. It features the "Year of the Snake" and is designed to enable users to experience the four-colour printing processes. It comprises four separate inscriptions presented in the four "process" colours of Cyan (C), Magenta (M), Yellow (Y) and Black (K) respectively. After stamping the cachets in the sequence of CMYK, the image of a full-colour snake will appear.

To facilitate visitors to collect the impressions of the cachets at the Postal Gallery, a special postcard will be issued and put on sale exclusively at the Postal Gallery from 26 September 2001 at HK$3.00 each. A restriction of twelve postcards per customer queuing will be imposed on the first day of issue and on subsequent days until stock lasts.

The Postal Gallery will open as usual on 26 September 2001 from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. No handback service will be provided.
