I should be grateful if the following information could be passed to the press and all other news media on 2 November:
The Postmaster General, Mr. P. C. LUK, announced today (2 November 2001) that a set of four postage prepaid Christmas Cards will be put on sale to the public as from 6 November 2001 (Tuesday). This set of greeting cards, carrying a warm festive feel, is designed by Mr. Ken LI . It will be sold both individually and in sets of four at all post offices and the outlets of Commercial Press , Daily Stop, PARKnSHOP (major shops only) , Popular , and Time The Bookshop.
The selling prices of the Christmas Greeting Cards are:
| Prepaid in Local Postage | Prepaid in Airmail Postage | |
|---|---|---|
| Single card | $4.00 per card | $5.50 per card |
| In sets of four | $14.00 per set | $20.00 per set |
These Christmas Greeting Cards are environmentally friendly in that they obviate the need for postage stamps and envelopes. They can be folded and sealed at the edges, hence providing enough space for writing messages and yet ensuring privacy.
As from 30 October 2001, these greeting cards will be put on display for advance information of the public at the General Post Office , Tsuen Wan Post Office , Tsim Sha Tsui Post Office and Shatin Central Post Office.
No sales restriction will be imposed on these greeting cards. Hand-back service to these cards using the normal office datestamps will be provided at all post offices on 6 November 2001. The GPO-1 datestamp and pictorial postmark will also be available for hand-back service at all Philatelic Offices on that day. At the same time, the public hall of the Hongkong Post Philatelic Bureau will open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for datestamping these Christmas cards with the "Philatelic Bureau" pictorial postmark and the GPO-1 postmark.
