The Postmaster General, Mr Luk Ping-chuen, announced today (June 7) that a set of stamps to commemorate the 5th Anniversary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) will be issued on Monday (July 1).
The designs of the stamps are based on the selected themes representing key aspects of development in Hong Kong over the past five years:
$1.40
The theme of this stamp is Environmental Protection. The grace and beauty of two Chinese white dolphins leaping out of water is captured against a blue sky and a sea of bright corals in the background.
$2.40
The theme of this stamp is Education. Happy children with their chins up and hands high with a victory "V" sign are anticipating their
promising future.
$3.00
The theme of this stamp is Infrastructure. Two white cranes flying past the Hong Kong International Airport symbolise the coming and going out of thousands and thousands of visitors every year. The futuristic architecture of the airport building reflects the modernity of Hong Kong where flora and fauna are so rich that our migratory friends never miss this place in winter.
$5.00
The theme of this stamp is Celebration. The flags of the People's Republic of China and the HKSAR are flying together against a spectacular firework display celebrating the 5th Anniversary of the HKSAR over the famous Hong Kong Skyline in the background.
The stamps are designed by Mr Benny Lau and printed in lithography by Walsall Security Printers Ltd.
