The Postmaster General, Mr Luk Ping-chuen, announced today (August 2) that a definitive stamp sheetlet (No. 8) will be issued on August 24, 2002 to commemorate Hongkong Post's participation in the AMPHILEX 2002 International Stamp Fair and Exhibition, which will be held at Amsterdam, the Netherlands from August 30 to September 3. The AMPHILEX 2002, organised under the auspices of the Federation of European Philatelic Associations and with the recognition of the International Federation of Philately, will display a total of 1,650 frames.
The stamp sheetlet is designed by Mr Colin Tillyer and printed in photogravure by Joh. Enschede Security Printers, the Netherlands. It incorporates a $10 definitive stamp and will be sold at $10 each. To match the sheetlet design, the Optical Variable Ink printed on the text ($10 Hong Kong, China) of the definitive stamp has been changed from the current gold and blue colours to green and red colours. A presentation pack containing a stamp sheetlet will also be available for sale at $18 each at all post offices on August 24.

As from August 3, the stamp sheetlet and the presentation pack will be displayed for advance information of the public at the General Post Office, Tsim Sha Tsui Post Office, Tsuen Wan Post Office and Shatin Central Post Office. Official souvenir cover at $1 each will be put on sale at all post offices on the same day. Advance orders for servicing self-provided souvenir covers will be accepted at all post offices from August 3 to 10.

Serviced souvenir cover at $13.50 each affixed with a stamp sheetlet and cancelled with special postmark will be available at the 38 philatelic offices on August 24.

A restriction of twenty stamp sheetlets, five serviced souvenir covers and five presentation packs per customer queuing will be imposed on the first day of issue on August 24 and on subsequent days until stock lasts.

Hand back service will be provided at all post offices on August 24 to official and privately-made covers bearing an indication of the event and a local address. A special postmark and cachet will also be introduced to commemorate the event. Application of the cachet will be available at the 38 philatelic offices on August 24 and also during the exhibition period from August 30 to September 3 at the exhibition venue and 38 philatelic offices during office hours.

The GPO-1 datestamp and pictorial postmark will also be available for hand-back service at all Philatelic Offices on August 24.
