Issue of Postage Prepaid Postcard Series No. 5 - 12 to Celebrate Walt Disney's 100 Years of Magic
The Postmaster General, Mr Luk Ping-chuen, announced today (August 9) that a set of eight postage prepaid postcards (No. 5 - 12) to celebrate "Walt Disney's 100 Years of Magic" will be issued on August 17, 2002 (Saturday).
This postcard set depicts the imagination of Walt Disney over the last 100 years, from the "Beginnings", "The Golden Age of Animation", "Rebirth", "Without Walt", "Second Golden Age", "Early 1990's", "Advent to the New Millennium", and finally to "100 Years of Magic".
The postcards are designed by Mr Jason Chum and printed by the Printing Department of the HKSAR. They are environmentally friendly in that they obviate the need for postage stamps and envelopes, and are printed on paper made from woodpulp derived from renewable forests. Each of them can be folded to conceal the written message to ensure privacy.
The selling prices of the postcards are $10 each and $75 in a binded set of eight. The postcard sets will be available at all post offices and the designated sales outlets from August 17, 2002 and on subsequent days until stock lasts. Individual cards will be available at 38 philatelic offices only. No sales restriction will be imposed on these postcards.
Hand back service will be provided at all philatelic offices on August 17, 2002. A special postmark will be introduced. Besides, the GPO-1 datestamp and pictorial postmark will be available for hand-back service at all philatelic offices on that day.
All post offices will open as per normal working hours on August 17, 2002 to provide a full range of counter services. The public hall of the Hongkong Post Stamps Philatelic Bureau will also open from 9 am to 1 pm on August 17, 2002 for handback service with the "Philatelic Bureau" pictorial postmark, the GPO-1 postmark as well as the special postmark.
