Launching of Postal Remittance Service with Canada

The Postmaster General, Mr. Luk Ping-chuen, announced today (August 29) that a reciprocal postal remittance service between Hong Kong and Canada will be launched with effect from 2 September 2002.
"Under the new service, customers will be able to remit up to CAD 7,000 to recipients in Canada, who can cash such remittance orders in over 7,500 post offices throughout Canada. Likewise, customers in Canada can remit up to HKD 35,000 to recipients in Hong Kong. For the convenience of our customers, the service will be available at all post offices including the 3 mobile post offices," said Mr Luk.

"The new service will provide an economical and simple way for the public to send money to their friends and families in Canada in the coming festive seasons such as Mid-Autumn Festival and Christmas. The continuous expansion of the our range of service has illustrated the commitment and effort of Hongkong Post in providing better quality of service and greater convenience to our customers." Mr Luk remarked.

Charges for the new service can be obtained at any post office or by telephoning the enquiry hotline at 2921 2222 or visiting the Hongkong Post website http://www.hongkongpost.com.
