Enhancements and Discount Promotion of the Bulk Air Mail Service

The Acting Postmaster General, Mr Tsang Kwok-lam, announced today (November 2) that a series of service enhancements and discount promotion on the Bulk Air Mail Service will be introduced on November 4 to offer greater and flexible choices to meet the needs of our customers.

Details of the enhancements and discount promotion are listed below:

  1. Relaxed minimum weight requirement: Minimum weight requirement will be relaxed from 5kg per posting for each country to 1 kg per country provided that in the same posting, mail for at least one destination is at 5kg or more.
  2. New per kilogram rate structure: Customers may choose between a new per kilogram rates to post mixed mail and the existing per item rates to post segregated mail weighing over 20g to 50g. The new per kilogram rate structure is highlighted in the following table:

  3. Three-month discount promotion: From November 4, 2002 to February 3, 2003, customer will enjoy special discount offer for posting heavy bulk air mail items to South Korea, the Philippines and Australia. The price for sending items above 50g to South Korea and the Philippines will be lowered from $70 to $60 per kg and for Australia from $90 to $75 per kg.
