Posting arrangement for Christmas mail

The Postmaster General, Mr Luk Ping-chuen, announced today (December 11) that the latest date for posting Christmas mail for local delivery before Christmas is December 21 (Saturday). Postings after this date might run the risk of not being delivered in time because of anticipated seasonal pressure of work. He advised members of the public to post as early as possible in order to avoid a last minute rush.

Special mail deliveries would be provided on December 22 (Sunday). No delivery would be made during the Christmas holidays.

All the post offices would be closed during the Christmas holidays. Mail collections would be arranged during the holidays for all street posting boxes except those which are located on outlying islands and in remote areas.

"The mail collection arrangements will serve to advance the processing of letters posted during the holidays and hence improve quality of letter service to the public." said Mr Luk.

To ensure that air mail items are delivered before Christmas, Mr Luk reminded members of the public to post their air mail items on or before the relevant latest dates of posting. The latest dates of posting for air Christmas mail to some of the major destinations are tabulated below:
