Launching of Postal Remittance Service with Japan

The Postmaster General, Mr. Allan CHIANG, announced today (9 May) that Hongkong Post will launch a reciprocal postal remittance service with Japan Post with effect from 12 May 2003.
"With this newly introduced service, customers can remit between Japan and Hong Kong a maximum amount of USD5,000 each time. This service will be available at all post offices in Hong Kong including three mobile post offices, and at over 20,000 post offices in Japan." said Mr. CHIANG.

Customers in Hong Kong will find this an efficient and economical way for making payment for purchase of goods from Japan through mail orders, and for sending money to their friends, families and trading partners in Japan. Through the continuous expansion of its network, the remittance service of Hong Kong Post is now available to Mainland China, the Philippines, Canada and Japan. This illustrates our commitment to provide better quality of service and greater convenience to our customers," Mr. CHIANG added.

Further information on the service can be obtained at any post office, by calling Hongkong Post's enquiry hotline 2921 2222 or visiting their website http://www.hongkongpost.com.
