Issue of a Souvenir Cover to Commemorate the One-Year-Free E-Cert with Smart ID Card
The Acting Postmaster General, Mr. K. L. TSANG, announced today (21 July 2003) that a souvenir cover will be issued on 9 August 2003 to commemorate the provision of one-year-free e-Cert by Hongkong Post to the smart ID cardholders. To encourage the adoption of the e-Cert by the smart ID cardholders, Hongkong Post has appointed two popular artists, Miss Miriam YEUNG and Mr. Ekin CHENG, as e-Cert Ambassadors for 2003-2004 to help raise public awareness and understanding of the e-Cert. This souvenir cover will be available for sale at 39 philatelic offices from 26 July to 9 August 2003. The selling price is $2 each.
A special postmark will be introduced on 9 August 2003. Hand-back service to official and privately-made covers bearing an indication of the event and a local address will be provided at 39 philatelic offices on that day. The GPO-1 hand stamp and pictorial postmarks will also be available for hand-back service at all philatelic offices on the same day.
The public hall of Philatelic Bureau will open from 9 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on 9 August 2003 for datestamping covers with the "Philatelic Bureau" pictorial postmark, the GPO-1 postmark as well as the special postmark.
A serviced souvenir cover will be given free to customers who have opted for a one-year-free e-Cert on their smart ID cards at the 20 designated post offices as from 9 August 2003 and at the Hongkong Post service counters of the 9 Smart ID Card Centres as from 18 August 2003. The serviced souvenir cover will be affixed with a $1.4 definitive stamp and cancelled with the special postmark, and will be distributed while stock lasts.
