"Hong Kong, China - Sweden Joint Issue on Waterbirds" Special Stamps Issuing Ceremony

Hongkong Post issued today (4 October 2003) the "Hong Kong, China - Sweden Joint Issue on Waterbirds" special stamps. This set of stamps is designed by Mr. Arde LAM and engraved by the world-class engraver, Mr. Czeslaw SLANIA. At a ceremony held this morning at the General Post Office, Mr. Allan CHIANG, Postmaster General, and Mr. Sicco SCHEEN, Production Manager and Deputy Managing Director, Sweden Post, officiated the issue by stamping blow-up postmarks of Hongkong Post and Sweden Post onto the stamps. Prominent guests witnessing the ceremony included Mr. Peter EKELUND, the Consul-General of Sweden in Hong Kong; Mr. LAM Chiu-ying, Chairman of the Hong Kong Birds Watching Society and representatives of the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department and local philatelic associations.

As this is a joint stamp issue with Sweden Post, an issuing ceremony was also held today in Stockholm, Sweden to celebrate the event and Mrs. Joanna CHOI, Assistant Postmaster General (Corporate Development) of Hongkong Post attended the ceremony and officiated the issue jointly with senior staff of Sweden Post.
