Dec 22 latest date for local Christmas mail
The latest date for posting Christmas mail for local delivery before Christmas is Monday, December 22, the Postmaster General, Mr Allan Chiang, announced today (December 1).
Mail posted after this date may not be delivered in time. Mr Chiang advised the public to post their Christmas mail as early as possible to avoid the last-minute rush.
There would be no mail delivery during the Christmas holidays. All post offices would be closed. However, one mail collection daily would be arranged on December 25 and 26 from all street post boxes, except those on outlying islands and in remote areas.
"The mail collection arrangements will serve to advance the processing of letters posted during the holidays and hence improve the quality of service to the public," Mr Chiang said.
To ensure that greetings sent by air mail were delivered before Christmas, Mr Chiang reminded the public to post their items on or before the following dates:
