HONG KONG 2004 STAMP EXPO IS LAUNCHED "My Stamp" Personalised Stamps are an Instant Success

On the first day (30 January 2004) of the HONG KONG 2004 Stamp Expo, being held at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre, a creative product "My Stamp" was an instant success. Mr. Kingsley LI, Assistant Postmaster General (Business Development), was at the issuing ceremony to explain that "My Stamp" is a personalized stamp sheetlet on which customers can print their own images.

"The sheetlet contains four stamps in denominations of HK$10, with two stamps each featuring "Nightlife" and "Green Hong Kong" themes. Adjacent to the stamps, there are two blank spaces on which subscribers' personal photographs may be incorporated." "My Stamp" is not just a stamp for individuals. Corporate customers, on bulk purchase, can also print their logos on the stamps. " said Mr. LI.

A similar product was introduced at the last stamp exhibition in Hong Kong and was a popular feature of the event. Riding on the previous success, improvements have been made in the 2004 Stamp Expo. "My Stamps" are available in a larger size, enhanced image quality and improvements in technology meaning that the stamps' production and printing time has been reduced.

"Visitors to the Expo can be photographed onsite. The moment that one shares with their family members or dear friends at the Stamp Expo can be captured instantaneously. While "My Stamp" customers are visiting the many booths and interesting displays in the venue, the personalized stamps will be ready in just one and a half hours. Customers will leave the Stamp Expo with an extra-ordinary souvenir."

"Alternatively, customers may order through subscription. They need only fill out an order form available at all 39 philatelic offices and attach a photo of their choice, and the finished stamp sheetlet in a creative designer pack will be sent to them."

As Hong Kong people are still in the mood for celebrating Chinese New Year, and with Valentine's Day drawing close, Mr. LI suggested that "My Stamp" will make a unique and memorable gift for either of these happy occasions.

Referring to Hongkong Post's corporate purpose "Linking people, Delivering Business", Mr. LI said the Expo is a fine example. "These days, with over 90 per cent of the mail handled coming from the industrial and business sectors, there is no doubt that Hongkong Post plays a significant role in the development of commerce and industry, truly linking people and delivering business", said Mr. LI.

"However, when considering our corporate purpose at another level, this event is the ideal venue to generate business via stamp and coin sales, sharing market intelligence, and promoting new products and services. This is an educational expo, of interest to philatelists, historians and lay people alike. I would urge everyone to attend the Expo not only to visit the 'My Stamp' booth, but to learn a little more about the world of postal services and philately."

The HONG KONG 2004 Stamp Expo will run from 30 January to 3 February 2004, and is co-organized by the Hong Kong Philatelic Society, the China Philatelic Association and the Tsim Sha Tsui Philatelic Club. Under the patronage of the Federation of Inter-Asian Philately (F.I.A.P.), this Expo is also known as the 17th Asian International Stamp Exhibition. Over 100 postal administrations, agents, printers, dealers and philatelic publishers and suppliers from around the world will participate. The event takes place in Hall 1 of the HKCEC and occupies about 15,000 square feet. Attendance is free to the public and a special feature of the event is that coins, as well as stamps, will be on display for the first time.
