The Acting Postmaster General, Mr. Kingsley Li, announced today (27 September) that Hongkong Post will be participating in the "55th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China" Chinese Stamps Exhibition, to be held from 30 September to 3 October 2004 at Shatin Town Hall Exhibition Gallery, 1 Yuen Wo Road, Shatin, New Territories.
The object of the Exhibition, which is organised by The Commercial Press (HK) Limited and co-organised by Hongkong Post, Macao Post and the China Philatelic Association, is to promote philately to the general public. Admission is free and all are welcome. The opening hours of the Exhibition are 10:00am to 7:00pm on 30 September through 2 October and 10:00am to 6:00pm on 3 October.
"We are delighted to support this meaningful exhibition in recognition of the founding of the PRC," said Mr. Li. "Hongkong Post will display artwork of its special stamps at the venue and a cachet will be introduced to commemorate this exhibition. It is evident that stamp products with themes depicting China have attracted increasing interest of the Hongkong philatelists. The special stamps issue on the "Centenary of the Birth of Deng Xiaoping" issued in last August had received great acclaim, and the artwork of such stamp issue will also be displayed throughout the exhibition period.
The Hongkong Post cachet will be available at the 39 philatelic offices throughout Hong Kong during the exhibition period.
Members of public interested in obtaining further details about the exhibition should be advised to call Ms Lee of the Stamp Centre of the Commercial Press (HK) Limited at 2385 0296.
