Issue of Hong Kong Currency Souvenir Pack Hongkong Post and HSBC team up for special HK Souvenir offer
Hongkong Post will extend its traditional expertise in stamps with the issue of a unique Hong Kong Currency Souvenir Pack on 19 October 2004. What makes this proposition so different from normal philatelic offerings is that the pack will contain sheetlets of stamps as well as a crisp, newly issued $20 Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited (HSBC) banknote. The combination considerably increases the overall value of the Souvenir Pack as a collectible item.
The Postmaster General, Mr. Allan CHIANG said: "The Hong Kong Currency Souvenir Pack is an extension of our special 'Hong Kong Currency' stamps issued in September. We felt that combining these popular special stamps with a Hong Kong banknote was a fine opportunity to recognise and congratulate HSBC on its longevity and the heritage it shares with Hong Kong."
The limited edition Souvenir Pack contains a "Hong Kong Currency" Souvenir Sheet with a set of four stamps and a $5 Stamp Sheetlet together with the $20 banknote, which was newly issued by HSBC on 11 October 2004. As a very special feature, all three items carry the same serial number, making this a truly unique collector's item.
The Souvenir Pack will be available for sale at 39 Philatelic Offices. Priced at $60 per pack, this item is bound to appeal to discerning collectors with both philatelic and numismatic interests. Sales will be restricted to 5 packs per queuing customer.
The same date, 19 October 2004, also marks the release of Hongkong Post's "Development of the Pearl River Delta Region" new stamp issue. This is for the convenience of customers, so that they may purchase both items in one go.
