Hongkong Post issued today (18 October 2005) the "Hong Kong, China - Portugal Joint Issue on Fishing Villages" Special Stamps. At a ceremony held this morning at the General Post Office, Mr. Allan Chiang, Postmaster General, Mr. Engo. Pedro Coelho, Vice President of Portugal Post and Mr. Pedro Moitinho de Almeida, Consul-General, Consulate General of Portugal officiated the issue by stamping the postmarks of Hongkong Post and Portugal Post onto blown-up first day covers. As a memento of the occasion, Mr. Chiang presented to the officiating guests framed stamps and first day covers.
Concurrently a stamp issuing ceremony was also held today in Lisbon, Portugal to celebrate the event. Mr. Suresh Mansukhani, Director (External Affairs) of Hongkong Post, officiated at the ceremony jointly with the President and senior staff members of Portugal Post.
