The Postmaster General, Mr. Allan Chiang , announced today that Hongkong Post will be participating in the Hong Kong Stampex 2006 Stamp Exhibition, which is to be held from 3 to 5 February 2006 in the Exhibition Gallery, 7/F, High Block, Hong Kong City Hall, Central.
The exhibition is organised by the Hong Kong Philatelic Society to encourage local collectors to produce stamp exhibits to international standards and to qualify first-time entrants for international stamp exhibitions. Admission is free and all are welcome. The opening hours of the exhibition are 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on 3 to 4 February and 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on 5 February.
'We are delighted to support this meaningful exhibition and to encourage the public and philatelists to participate in the exciting world of philately," said Mr. Chiang. 'Hongkong Post will display the running proof of the 'Charming Chinese Lanterns' special stamps at the exhibition venue and issue an official souvenir cover, together with a special postmark, to commemorate the event."
The souvenir cover at HK$2 will be available for sale at the 39 philatelic offices from 20 January to 3 February 2006. A hand-back datestamping service using the special postmark will be available at all philatelic offices on 3 February 2006. The cover's image and specimen impression of special postmark are reproduced as attached.
