Souvenir Cover Text for 7th Inter-School Stamp Exhibits Competition

This Souvenir Cover is issued to commemorate the 7th Inter-School Stamp Exhibits Competition, organised by Hongkong Post to promote philately among students.

Stamp collecting is a healthy, affordable and educational hobby. Every stamp has its own story to be explored, bringing insights into different cultures and peoples, their stories and their lives, and marking special events locally and internationally.

A stamp exhibit is a presentation of stamp products and narratives using a thematic approach which requires research and writing. Informative and effective writing is essential for a high-quality stamp exhibit. As an extra-curricular activity, producing a stamp exhibit provides a great opportunity for broadening one's horizon, enhancing creativity and practicing writing skills. The annual Inter-School Stamp Exhibits Competition therefore has received continuous support from students, parents and teachers since its launch in 2000.

Philatelic tools are arranged in the shape of a "7" on the Souvenir Cover to suggest this is the seventh competition. A special postmark and cachet have also been designed for this Competition.

This event is co-organised by the Education and Manpower Bureau. Competition entries will be displayed at the Exhibition Gallery, Hong Kong Central Library, from 12 to 16 April 2006
