Special Stamp Issue - "Civic Education" (23 August 2007)
A special stamp issue with the theme of "Civic Education" would be released on August 23, the Postmaster General, Mr Tam Wing-pong, announced today (August 6). Associated stamp products will also be on sale from the same date.
This set of special stamps on "Civic Education" is the first set of hexagon stamps issued by Hongkong Post. Featuring the winning entry from the Primary School Division of the "Civic Education Stamp Design Competition" co-organised by the Committee on the Promotion of Civic Education and the Home Affairs Bureau in 2005, this colourful issue helps to enhance understanding of the concept and knowledge of civic education as well as boost people's civic awareness.
Official First Day Covers at $1 each will be put on sale at all post offices from August 9. The stamps and the associated philatelic products will be displayed at the General Post Office and Tsim Sha Tsui, Tsuen Wan and Sha Tin Central Post Offices from the same date. Advance orders for servicing self-provided covers will be accepted at all philatelic offices from August 9 to 15.
