"Giant Pandas" Special Stamps Issuing Ceremony cum Fundraising Activity for "Sichuan Earthquake Relief Giant Panda Base Rebuilding Fund"

Hongkong Post issued today (July 1) the "Giant Pandas" Special Stamps. At a ceremony held in the morning at Ocean Park, Member of the Executive Council, Mr Rafael Hui Si-yan, Chairman of Ocean Park Hong Kong, Dr Allan Zeman, and Postmaster General, Mr Tam Wing-pong, officiated the issue of the special stamps by stamping an enlarged first day cover.

Mr Tam has announced that a total of $1,375,000 was raised at the sale of limited edition prestige stamp products with a Giant Panda paw print. Mr Hui presented the cheque donation on behalf of Hongkong Post to Dr Zeman and Chairlady of Ocean Park Conservation Foundation Hong Kong, Ms Judy Chen, to support the rebuilding of panda facilities in Sichuan.

On the same occasion, Mr and Mrs Hui went to the Giant Panda Habitat and spent a short reunion with Ying Ying & Le Le after their first encounter at Wolong National Nature Reserve in 2007.
