This is the first set of Lunar New Year Greeting Cards issued by Hongkong Post. The Greeting Cards that convey warm Lunar New Year festive wishes are designed by Mr. George TANG. They are environmentally friendly in that they obviate the need for postage stamp and envelopes. They can be folded and sealed at the edges, hence providing enough space for writing messages and yet ensuring privacy. The Greeting Cards, prepaid in airmail postage denominations, are sold in sets of 6 cards and at $30 per set at all philatelic offices. A sales restriction of 5 sets of cards per queuing customer will be imposed on the first day of sale.
As from 4 December 2008, these Greeting Cards will be put on display for advance information of the public at the General Post Office and Tsim Sha Tsui, Tsuen Wan and Sha Tin Central Post Offices.
No special postmark is introduced for this set of Greeting Cards. However, hand-back service will be available on 11 December 2008 at all 37 philatelic offices using the normal office datestamp (GPO-1 datestamp at the General Post Office), philatelic office pictorial postmark and the “Philatelic Bureau” pictorial postmark. Also on the same day, the public hall of the Hongkong Post Philatelic Bureau will open from 9am to 5pm for datestamping these Greeting Cards with the “Philatelic Bureau” pictorial postmark.
