Postal services in Italy province gradually restored

Hongkong Post announced today (April 23) that it had been informed by the postal administration of Italy that postal services (including Speedpost) in the province of L'Aquila (zip codes 67010-67199), which were suspended due to the earthquake in central Italy, are being gradually restored. However, postal services in those areas are still subject to delay. The current situation is as follows:

General Information

Many people living in the affected areas have moved to hotels on the coast or are staying with relatives and friends away from the earthquake zone. Before sending letters, parcels or Speedpost items, senders are advised to check where the addressees are actually based to facilitate prompt delivery of the items to their new addresses.

Delivery of letter-post items

Letter-post items addressed to the city of L'Aquila and other affected villages are being delivered directly to the tent camps.

Below is a list of the destinations and postcodes currently served by mobile post offices, which are responsible for general delivery (poste restante) of all parcels and Speedpost items.

Items bearing the above-mentioned address will be delivered by the mobile post offices directly to the addressees, provided that the addressee's mobile phone number is clearly indicated on the item. If the phone number is not indicated, items bearing the above-mentioned address will be returned to sender directly from the office of exchange.

In order to ensure rapid processing of parcels and Speedpost items, senders are reminded that all customs declarations must be completely and accurately filled in.
