Fact Sheet No. 1 – HONG KONG 2009 – 23rd Asian International Stamp Exhibition (HONG KONG 2009)

Organization

“HONG KONG 2009” has the patronage of the Federation of Inter-Asian Philately (F.I.A.P.) as the 23rd Asian International Stamp Exhibition. It is organized by the Hong Kong Philatelic Society and Hongkong Post as the main sponsor. It is held from 14 to 17 May 2009 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Objectives

The theme for “HONG KONG 2009” is “Youth Philately” and the Exhibition aims to keep alive the interest in philately generated from the past stamp exhibitions and promote stamp collecting as a healthy and educational hobby.

Daily Themes

A daily theme will be set for each day of the Exhibition period as below:

Temporary Post Office

Hongkong Post will set up a Temporary Post Office at the Exhibition venue to provide services including sale of stamps/stamp products, datestamping and acceptance of Speedpost, Local Courierpost, ordinary mail, parcel and registered mail postings. The opening hours are the same as the opening hours of the Exhibition venue, which are as follows:

14 May 2009 (Thu) 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
15 & 16 May 2009 (Fri – Sat) 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
17 May 2009 (Sun) 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

(The Exhibition venue will be closed one hour after the last admission time of each day.)

Exhibition leaflet

The HONG KONG 2009 Exhibition leaflet will be distributed at the Exhibition venue during the Exhibition period to provide a guide to “HONG KONG 2009” with detailed information on lists of booth holders, competitive exhibits, Court of Honour items, philatelic products, daily events and the floor plan.  For details of the Exhibition, please visit the official website of The Hong Kong Philatelic Society at http://www.hkpsoc.com.
