Hongkong Post today (March 30) announced that a set of special stamps on the theme of "Green Living" will be released for sale with associated philatelic products on April 14.

Hong Kong has experienced phenomenal social progress and economic advances over the past few decades. As the territory becomes an international financial centre and a global trading hub, there is increasing community awareness of the concept of "sustainability", which advocates a suitable balance between development and conservation. In this context, embarking on green way of living is conducive to the objective of building a better future for our future generations.

Hongkong Post seeks to promote "Green Living" as a positive means to contribute towards sustainable development. Set in refreshing and uplifting colours, the four stamps deploy a tender green shoot as background to highlight common green initiatives such as water conservation, emission reduction, energy saving and waste recycling. The stamp sheetlet bearing a leaf-shaped design is the first of its kind and augurs well with the theme, while the stamps, stamp sheetlet, First Day Cover and Presentation Pack are all printed on FSCTM-certified paper that satisfies stringent standards on the use of raw materials and production processes.

Official First Day Covers will be put on sale for $1 each at all post offices effective from tomorrow (March 31). Meanwhile, the stamps and associated philatelic products will be displayed at the General Post Office, Tsim Sha Tsui Post Office, Tsuen Wan Post Office and Sha Tin Central Post Office on the same day.
Hongkong Post today (March 11) announced that a set of special stamps on the theme of "Volunteerism" will be released for sale with associated philatelic products on March 29.

Volunteerism is an important social service that promotes not only a sense of sharing and affinity, but also cultivates civic-mindedness and personal development. In recognition of the meaningful role played by volunteer workers towards enhancing social harmony and inclusiveness, Hongkong Post is proud to take part in celebrating the 10th anniversary of the International Year of Volunteers.

The four stamps depict the rewarding experiences gained and positive contributions made by different age groups engaged in delivering essential community services. Particularly noteworthy is the innovative design concept adopted for the sheetlet that mimics a diary page, which captures some memorable moments and features a heart-shaped stamp as a centrepiece symbolising the noble spirit of volunteerism.

Official First Day Covers will be put on sale for $1 each at all post offices from March 15.
Hongkong Post today (February 28) announced that a stamp sheetlet commemorating the centenary of powered flight in Hong Kong will be released together with associated philatelic products on March 18.

The aviation industry is one of the key drivers underpinning the rapid development of Hong Kong into an export, tourism and logistics hub. The era of powered flight in Hong Kong was initiated by Mr Charles Van den Born, a pioneer from Belgium, who took to the sky over Sha Tin in a Farman biplane on March 18, 1911. Hongkong Post is pleased to take part in celebrating this remarkable achievement and important milestone.

The design of the stamp sheetlet comprises a backdrop set in nostalgic colours depicting the busy flow of passenger and air traffic as well as skyscrapers along Hong Kong's shoreline. The core feature includes two stamps capturing a historic moment when the Farman biplane lifted off and its replica on display at the Hong Kong International Airport.

The stamp sheetlet and associated philatelic products will be displayed at the General Post Office, Tsim Sha Tsui Post Office, Tsuen Wan Post Office and Sha Tin Central Post Office on March 4. Official first day covers will be available for $1 each at all post offices from the same day, while advance orders for servicing self-provided covers will be accepted at all philatelic offices from March 4 to 10.
Hongkong Post today (January 7) announced that a set of special stamps for the "Year of the Rabbit" will be released for sale with associated philatelic products on January 22.

Celebration of the Lunar New Year is an important Chinese tradition that brings together families and friends to share good wishes and renew acquaintances. It presents a popular and attractive theme as each year is marked by an animal of the 12 Chinese zodiac signs, and Hongkong Post has been issuing special stamps to mark this auspicious occasion since 1967.

People born in the Year of the Rabbit are said to be kind, gentle and witty. The special stamps vividly portray four adorable rabbits, which are either a commonly found species or popularly kept as domestic pets in Hong Kong. A stamp sheetlet embossed with genuine gold and silver marking the transition from tiger to rabbit is also available, while we have also produced a set of flock stamps featuring Rat, Ox, Tiger and Rabbit and a stamp sheetlet featuring all 12 animals to mark this last issue in the third series.

Official First Day Covers for the "Year of the Rabbit" special stamps and Official Souvenir Covers for the "Gold and Silver Stamp Sheetlet on Lunar New Year Animals - Tiger/Rabbit", "Flock Stamps on Lunar New Year Animals - Rat/Ox/Tiger/Rabbit" and "Twelve Animals of the Lunar New Year Cycle" stamp sheetlet will be put on sale at $1 each at all post offices from January 8. Concurrently, a set of postcards featuring those rabbits depicted on the special stamps could also be purchased for $8 each at all philatelic offices. These items will be displayed at the General Post Office, Tsim Sha Tsui Post Office, Tsuen Wan Post Office and Sha Tin Central Post Office on the same day. Advance orders for servicing self-provided covers will be accepted at all philatelic offices from January 8 to 14.

Information about this special stamp issue and associated philatelic products may be obtained from the website of Hongkong Post at www.hongkongpost.com.
