Awards Winning - Proven Records of Hongkong Post's Commitment to Quality and Performance Excellence

In the 2004 Hong Kong Management Association Quality Award, Hongkong Post (HKP) was awarded with the Certificate of Excellence. Winning the Award further proves to the local community our commitment to quality and performance excellence.

First launched in 1991, the Hong Kong Management Association (HKMA) Quality Award has been regarded as the "Oscar" of quality management in Hong Kong. The Examiners of the competition were very impressed with the competency of HKP's top management, whose leadership and vision have contributed to HKP's successful evolution from a traditional government department to a forward-looking, customer-oriented and market-oriented organisation.

In fact, we are no stranger to open competitions. Through competitions, we have comprehensively reviewed HKP's management quality, and have been able to identify shortcomings that need to be addressed in order to take our service to a new level. Competitions also provide a valuable chance to learn from the experience of organizations in private sector, so that we can continue to excel through development and innovation. From January to July 2004, we have already received over 10 awards and some of the important ones are as follows:-

  1. Champion of the Civil Service Customer Service Award Scheme 2003/04 "Outstanding Customer Service Award" -

Since 1999, Civil Service Bureau has been organising an annual Customer Service Award Scheme to give recognition to departments and teams which provide outstanding customer service. In the Award Scheme in 2003-04, an Outstanding Customer Service Award was presented to departments for driving customer service improvement. Among the 29 participating departments, Hongkong Post won the Champion of the Department Award.

Besides, awards were also given out to teams of officers in recognition of their efforts in providing outstanding customer service in the areas of hotline, counter, front-line, e-service and internal support services. Winners were selected on the basis of customer satisfaction, customer service culture and cost effectiveness. In the end, Hongkong Post successfully took home four Team Awards, including E-service (Champion), Counter Service (1st runner-up), Front-line Service (Merit) and Internal Support Service (Merit).
  2. Next Magazine Top Service Award 2004 in the Government Departments and Related Organisations category -

The award, organised by Next Magazine and voted by readers, aims to recognise and reward the unrelenting efforts of service providers in providing top quality services to customers in Hong Kong. This is the 15th Top Service Award and Hongkong Post made it five in a row by winning the champion title in the Government Departments and Related Organisations category. Moreover, our postman, Mr. LEE Chung-wing also won the 2nd runner up in Best Staff Award.
  3. Gold Level Certification in the Universal Postal Union EMS Cooperative Audit and Measurement Programme in 2003 -

The award is based on the Universal Postal Union EMS Cooperative's Audit and Measurement Programme conducted by an independent consultant every year. Out of 195 EMS operators, Hongkong Post received the Gold Level Certification for its outstanding EMS performance during 2003. This is the second year in a row that we achieved this highest level of recognition. Besides, we are one of the only two postal administrations that have achieved this highest level of performance in the certification programme.

Winning these awards has not only exemplified our Purpose Statement of "Linking People Delivering Business", but has also proved to the community of Hong Kong our commitment to quality and performance excellence. We will continue to strive for excellence and provide the best services to you!
